The Mohn Westlake Foundation is proud to be a lead supporter of the Place2Be’s new premises, which enable the charity to achieve its strategy and progress as an organisation by developing its operations and crucial evidence base, and delivering its training programmes.

At a glance…

  • In 2017/18, over 500 school leaders and teachers increased their knowledge and skills through Place2Be’s ‘Mental Health Champions’ training programmes.
  • More than 1,300 counsellors and therapists gained vital experience and training through Place2Be’s counselling placements.
  • Place2Be delivered its ‘whole school approach’ for mental health in primary and secondary schools across the UK, reaching over 142,000 children and young people.

Place2Be is a children’s mental health charity with a vision that all children in schools across the UK should have access to high quality, evidence-based mental health support.

The new, state-of-the-art, equipped building houses core operations and crucially provides Place2Be with the space and facilities needed to recruit volunteers, deliver training programmes and deliver its bold new vision.

“Children only come this way once. If we don’t help children with their problems, these problems will grow up with them – and when they do, not just children, but society as a whole, pays a very high price.”Head Teacher

“We know that schools have a vital role to play in creating an emotionally healthy culture for children. Schools, however, cannot and should not have to manage all this alone. School leaders and teachers need expert guidance and training to develop their own approaches to supporting children’s mental wellbeing. As its patron, I am incredibly proud of the contribution that Place2Be is making towards exactly this. They are training and guiding thousands of counsellors, and many hundreds of school leaders, teachers and staff, based on the evidence and experience gathered from their frontline work.”
