Supporting young people in Surrey with the Community Foundation for Surrey

The Mohn Westlake Foundation will be supporting young people in Surrey through three different grant funding programmes managed by the Community Foundation for Surrey.

“We are absolutely delighted to be working in partnership with the Mohn Westlake Foundation to support young people in Surrey. This donation comes at a time when young people need opportunities more than ever, with increased mental health issues and reduced activities for young people in many parts of the county. We look forward to using this donation to help directs funds to local charities making a long-term difference to the lives of local young people.”

Firstly, the donation will launch a new Surrey Youth Opportunities Fund, which will award grants to grassroots local charities that are making a difference to the lives of young people through mentoring, positive activities, skills, the arts and education. This will be a huge boost to local groups who work closely with young people whom would not otherwise be able to access such vital opportunities.

The donation will also support the Surrey Mental Health Fund, which awards grants to early intervention projects that help children and young people aged 8-13 address the early warning signs of developing mental health issues. The Fund launched in 2018 and is currently supporting innovative local projects and activities which help address gaps in provision throughout the county.

Lastly, the Mohn Westlake Foundation will also support the Surrey Young People’s Fund, which makes small grants to enable individuals aged 16-25 to access employment, education and training; for example by paying for course fees or purchasing equipment for practical work skills programmes.

These grants can be life-changing for every young person they support by removing the barriers individuals face in developing themselves and securing employment.
