Our grant making approach

  • Our trustees meet bi-monthly and carefully assess all applications. Where there is trustee interest our team invest time in getting to know a potential grantee, before a grant is offered.
  • Funding decisions are based on an assessment of the application itself, the robustness of each organisation applying, its leadership, finances and impact.
  • Once a grant is offered, we build relationships with our grantees and monitor their progress, including annual formal check ins.
  • We believe that multi-year, flexible funding is the best way to support our grantees and, in many cases, we offer core funding over several years to help grantees achieve their goals.

Our criteria

  • We accept both solicited and unsolicited funding applications but we strongly encourage applicants to only apply if they meet our eligibility criteria.
  • Our trustees consider each applicant’s fit with our existing portfolio, and are unlikely to select charities that do similar work to that of existing grantees.
  • Grant sizes vary but usually don’t exceed more than 20% of an organisation’s annual income.
  • We are always open to considering re-application once a grant comes to an end, though renewed funding is not guaranteed.

Who we fund

Expert, passionate and UK based. If your charity fits this description and aligns with one of the below objectives, you could be the right fit for our funding.

  • Providing opportunities for enrichment and skills development for children and young people, particularly in performing arts, education and science.
  • Advancing data transparency, to increase access to impartial information and to promote the public good through the collection and analysis of useful data.

Occasionally, the Foundation may also fund other charitable purposes under the terms of the trust instrument and the law of England and Wales, under the Trustees discretion.
