The Mohn Westlake Foundation is partnering with the London Community Foundation to support The BIGKID Foundation in equipping young people at risk of social exclusion and youth violence to take control of their lives and find, develop and act on their own potential.
London Community Foundation specialises in supporting community-based organisations focused on helping disadvantaged Londoners by raising funds from institutions and individuals to invest in local charities and social enterprises.
The support received by The BIGKID Foundation will contribute to the organisation’s core costs, building BIGKID’s capacity to support young people to gain additional skills and confidence, and to take steps on more positive pathways.
The BIGKID Foundation works with young people from Lambeth aged 11-25 across its Community Engagement, Mentoring and Leadership Programmes. Each year, the organisation works with over 1,200 young people. The Mohn Westlake Foundation’s grant money will also help to increase this number and ensure that no more young people have to lose their lives to youth violence.
The Mohn Westlake Youth Achievement Fund, managed by London Community Foundation, will provide multi-year grants to other small organisations working to improve skills and opportunities for young people under the age of 24. The Mohn Westlake Foundation will also be working in partnership with other donors to support organisations tackling youth violence as part of London Community Foundation’s Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund, Save London Lives initiative.
