The Mohn Westlake Foundation is partnering with the Quartet Community Foundation to establish a Sudden Needs Fund, to help solve challenges for children in the local area.
The Sudden Needs Fund is based in the West of England outside of Bristol. Applications are currently being sought to respond to new and emerging needs in a timely and flexible way.
The Fund will award grant money to:
Our Say in South Ward; A grant of £2500 is being awarded to fund the setting up of a mother and toddler group in Weston-super-Mare, to enable women to meet in a safe environment where their children can play.
Yatton Youth Club; Funding of £3000 will be provided to support a new weekly detached project, where two youth workers are building relationships with young people who are not engaged in any other youth work provision in order to reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.
South Weston Activity Network (SWAN); A grant of £5000 is being given to support the expansion of the work of the newly formed Youth Forum.
XTND – Improving Futures; Funding of £7900 is being awarded for the ‘Mini Police’ scheme running in and around the Bournville estate in Weston-super-Mare; a volunteering opportunity for 9-11-year olds which follows a three-step approach of Education, Community and Reward. The objective is to introduce children to a positive experience of policing and to get them involved in the local community.
The Quartet Community Foundation aims to bring people together and improve lives by supporting small groups and charities in Bath, North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
